Who inspires you as a student-athlete?
My dad and my older brother
How do you prepare for games?
Before every meet and game, I say a prayer and kiss my brother’s class ring. Then, I drink some kool-aid and then it’s GAME TIME!
You moved here last year from Spain. Describe your experience as a student-athlete in a military family.
It’s really cool in my opinion. It’s given me the opportunity to travel the world and play on and against teams from all over the world, on their turf and mine. It’s alot of moving every three years. Moving from Spain to Beaufort was a big change especially sports-wise. Nothing is the same about any of these sports except for their name. In Spain, I played sports with the guys so that I would be beyond ready when it came time for me to play with the girls. Being a military child is hard, but being a military child and student-athlete is even harder. To be honest, I wouldn’t give any of this up for the world.
What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete?
When I came in 2nd place for the high jump at the 2019 Lower State Qualifiers in Track & Field. My dad was so proud because he always got knocked out at the Qualifiers for his individual events. I was going to state for a team and individual event. I just remember him telling me how proud he was when I did something he never did.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years from now?
I see myself in medical school hopefully starting my residency at a local hospital.
What is your favorite quote?
“The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow”
