BEAUFORT, S.C. – Head Coach, Torri McCullough has a difficult challenge in front of him – as does every high school coach in the coach right now – preparing for an unprecedented 2020 campaign. “It has put us in a difficult, challenging position. Normally, we have a lot of time to work with our kids in the offseason so that was not able to happen this year,” said McCullough. However the fundamentals will be at the forefront of what he hopes to accomplish this season.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced teams to develop new ways of training and becoming a team, but Coach McCullough believes he can depend on his two seniors for support. “This year I am going to be leaning on my two seniors that have played with me for the last number of years to help lead these younger players. That means in practice I need them to be a little more vocal, I need them to teach along with me.”
The Dolphins graduated seven seniors this past season and while the team may be young, these players know what is expected of them. “They have got to put in the additional work and be committed.”
“I am looking for them to grow and gain experience after every game.”
Battery Creek opens the season at the Palace against Academic Magnet at 6:30 pm.
